The location is elegant and filled with romantic ambiance. The
Bently Reserve's famous Sansome Street lobby, is lined with 25 foot
ionic columns, surrounded by 2 overhead balconies and an overhead mural
by artist, Jules Guerin, who served as Director of Color for the Panama
Pacific International Exposition. The walls and floor are finished
in French and Italian marble and the doors are of solid bronze.
Beyond
the entrance, the Great Banking Hall opens to reveal the full sense of the
banking “temple.” The Hall is a basilica in plan, with marble Corinthian
columns supporting the intricate plaster ceiling. The hand-painted imitation
travertine wall echo the genuine travertine and marble floor tiles. The
chandeliers date back to the early 1920’s and have been carefully
reconditioned with recessed lighting to increase the dramatic effect.
